Faculty calling cards

Scope and Contents The calling cards bear handwritten messages for the purpose of allowing medical students to gain admission to the library of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Cards were to be presented to Mr. Fisher, Librarian. Faculty whose cards are included in the collection include W. W. Keen, [J. Chalmers?] Da Costa, Lawrence Wolff, William Pepper, and John B. Roberts.

Scope and Contents TLS, Providence, W. W. Keen James to Betty Pilling, 23 July 1994, transmitting photocopies of two letters exchanged between Major W.W. Keen and Charles J. Pilling (president of George P. Pilling & Sons, makers of surgical instruments). The letters dated 3 January and 11 Feb. 1919 pertain to Keen's efforts to raise support for Belgian and French doctors during World War I by arranging for shipments of medical instruments.

Scope and Contents Typed letter dated 10 Dec. 1892, George M. Gould to [W. W.] Keen concerning injurious statements allegedly made by Keen about the relative aptitude of certain JMC alumni for JMC faculty positions; accompanied by an undated printed circular to all alumni by H. A. Brous, M.D. proposing resolutions to be voted on by the Alumni Association; and a letter (ALS), H. A. Hare to Ross Patterson, 14 Sept. 1921, in which the letters were transmitted.
